Tairāwhiti Gisborne Tourism (TGT) Is the Regional Tourism Organisation (RTO) for the Tairāwhiti region. Based on the eastern coast of the North Island in Gisborne.

TGT is a division within Trust Tairāwhiti the local Economic Development Agency (EDA), RTO and Community Trust which has amalgamated to form a single regional development agency tasked with community wellbeing and economic prosperity.

TGT works closely with local industry and community, local and national tourism organisations’ NZ Māori Tourism (NZMT)  as well as Tourism New Zealand (TNZ) to coordinate and support the Destination Development, Marketing and Management of Tairāwhiti as a visitor destination within New Zealand and internationally.

The TGT vision is that all New Zealanders have a deep sense of connection and desire to visit Tairāwhiti Gisborne as a place of national historical and cultural significance.

For international visitors Tairāwhiti Gisborne is a must-visit destination for an enriching authentic cultural experience.

The RTO region also includes the distinct and separate areas that lie within the Ōpōtiki District Council (ODC) boundary.

The TGT team aims to:
– Create and grow unique and authentic sustainable quality visitor experiences
– Attract and influence visitor engagement in the region
– Lead tourism sector alignment and collaboration

TGT also manages the Gisborne i-SITE and Gisborne City Centre Vibrancy (CCV) unit which are co-funded through the Gisborne District Council (GDC).
