Larnach Castle and Gardens is an experience where guests step back in time. Nestled on the picturesque Otago Peninsula – the heart of New Zealand’s Wildlife Capital, we’re a 25-minute scenic drive from Dunedin.
There is something for everyone. Exquisite craftsmanship and architecture, history and stories, award-winning gardens, dramatic views, culinary experiences, and three unique accommodation styles. In a lifelong passion project, the Barker’s and a team of skilled experts continue to lovingly restore the Castle.
Experiences include Castle Guided Tours, Garden Guided Tours, self-guided entry tickets, Castle Dinner Experience, Victorian High Tea, Ballroom Cafe, Boutique Gift Shop. We welcome both FIT and Groups, including a dedicated Group Lunch Menu served in the historic Ballroom.
Guests who stay in our accommodation enjoy exclusive afterhours access to wander the gardens, sweeping views across the Peninsula, and the Castle illuminated at night. Accommodation styles include Camp Estate, our luxury country house – Qualmark Gold 5-Star; Larnach Lodge, our boutique stay on Castle grounds – Qualmark Gold 4-Star; and Stay Stay, our entry-level style.
